A round of applause rang loud and clear as Alejandro Gómez Palomo stepped out on the runway for its finale, his latest collection” The Closet” continued to defy the explorations of gender and queerness. While onlookers wondered whether it was a reference to coming out — the designer had something else planned. “I think we all had a uniqure relationship with clothes when we were children.”

This collection became personal for the designer. There were pictures of Palomo “as a kid, dressed as a little woman or something,” he said. His childhood was all about playing with her clothes.

This translated into a universe where everything was dreamy. The glammed up track suits was a poignant reference to “the classic gym class hero look that we had coming home from school.”

It seemed that Palomo’s dream closet was inspired by vintage Balenciaga and even, surprisingly, Bedtime stories. Resulting in the models, wearing pillow hats and babydoll inspired outfits. But despite all the sweetness, you could tell that there was a subliminal form of transgression which was inspired by his Catholicism.
